Wellbeing

This is a significant area of difference for our school. At Narraweena PS, we know that students feel a strong sense of belonging and connection. At our school, student wellbeing and learning go hand in hand. We want every student to feel happy, included and ready to learn. Whether your child needs help with their mental, emotional, social or physical wellbeing, we are here to help them thrive at school and in daily life.

How we support student wellbeing

Supporting each student’s mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing is part of everyday school life.

Peace Keepers

Year 5 students take on a leadership role to promote playground harmony. The 'Peace Keepers' help others negotiate small problems before they become big ones.

The Anxiety Project

The Anxiety Project (TAP) aims to help staff and parents/carers reduce children's anxiety by teaching about managing emotions and building resilience. We have measured significant success in this program.

Buddies

Year 6 students take on a mentor role with a kindergarten student to help their transition to school. Through the year, buddies spend time together for a variety of learning activities including making Easter hats, reading and playing games in the playground.

Positive Reinforcement

All students receive a range of positive incentives to encourage personal development. This document outlines the structure of some of these rewards.

Positive Relationships

Our approachable staff all have positive relationships throughout the school - with students, other staff and with our community. We create a happy environment for all.

The Village approach

Our Narraweena Village is important for your child; together, we celebrate success and find solutions to best support your child.
